Advertising/Tracking Cookies

Cookies are everywhere we go on the internet. They are designed to improve the online user experience, and whilst they are not in themselves a danger, they can be used dangerously by bad actors which could impact upon the security of your device.  There are things that can be done about it though.

Cookies used by TestoChecker™

Cookies are used by both META and Google Analytics on this website to collect data, to better identify user interest.  To date, the META data has not been used for marketing purposes, however, Google Analytics may use this data to improve advertising efficiency when delivering Google Ads on behalf of TestoChecker®. Don’t like Google Cookies tracking your actions? Read on to see how you can block Google Analytics cookies.

What if I don’t want Cookies tracking my website behaviour?

A Browser Guards extension will block the Google Analytics Cookies on every website you visit. Anyone can opt-out of the Google Analytics behaviour tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (see below). We also have the option to adjust the settings on the internet browser we use to limit our ‘visibility’.

What is the Google Analytics opt-out add-on?

It is a browser extension which provides website visitors with the ability to prevent their data from being captured by Google Analytics (across the web). It will ‘cloak’ your behaviour, blocking Google Analytics cookies from capturing your navigation, and also manual click actions.

It is our view that Google should be acknowledged for their ongoing investment in the development and provision of Personal Data and Privacy protection tools.

Are there any negative consequences when Disabling Cookie Tracking?

Disabling cookies will affect the user experience. For some users of the internet, this reduction in performance is considered to be an acceptable compromise. Search Browsers used in 2024 are not all the same, and it may be an idea to consider the alternatives.
